Picking the narrative back up

I’m back from a fortnight of entirely normal, revenue passenger travel for work. It’s an entirely different experience. I spent less time in airports, more time knowing I’d be able to get a seat on the airplanes I was shooting for, and almost no time stressing about anything travel-related. Having experienced and conquered (what feels like) everything that can possibly go wrong over a month of constant airplane travel, I’m pretty comfortable with the rotation of packing, travel, new place, pack up again, get home, unpack, catch breath.

At least this time I didn’t fool myself into thinking I’d get any writing done.

Story-wise, this is the midpoint of the month. I’d spent two weeks exploring and figuring things out, then the next few cities were based around family and occasions. After that, more gallivanting. On Thursday I’ll tell y’all about Baltimore, the only city I didn’t visit the airport for.

I have found it so unpredictable to work out how I will spend apparent free time travelling. Sometimes I am highly productive and get lots of work done, sometimes I don’t even open my laptop on the plane.
